It is very important to make sure your tree is staked. The reason for staking your tree is stop the roots from rocking. The head of the tree does not need strapping. It can move in the wind.
In order to do this you will need a stake and a strap. The strap needs to be check periodically to ensure its not cutting into the trunk of the tree.
The 'Himalayan whitebeam' is a fast-growing, variable tree usually reaching about 12 metres in cultivation. It starts out as an erect, columnar tree but as it ages it becomes broadly conical. The large, oval leaves are simple and sharp-toothed. It bears small white flowers in spring followed by round or pear-shaped fruit. Sorbus flowers provide a lot of nectar for pollinators.
